HOLDINGS FROM ASIA

The Asian collections include materials from eastern Asia as well as collections from the Near East. Among these holdings are: artifacts from the excavations at Tepe Yahya (Iran); artifacts from the Hetty Goldman excavations in Turkey; cuneiform tablets from Nuzi and other sites; Ksar Akil (Israel); survey collections made by Walter Fairservis; Aurel Stein collection from Baluchistan; Anau; Chanho-daro and other sites in India; artifacts from the Olov Janse excavations in Vietnam; small pottery collectio ns from Japan, the Philippines, and Thailand; the type collections of the Movius "Chopper-Chopping Tool" complex (Burma, Java); an extensive collection of oracle bone fragments (China); Neolithic painted funerary urns (China).
