GRANTS AND AWARDS

Grant proposal development provides necessary additional funding to support special projects that address the Museum's current preservation and conservation priorities.

During the past few years, several grant proposals for the preservation and conservation of at-risk collections have been initiated by the Administrative Head of Conservation and written in collaboration with other Museum department staff. A recent listing follows with links to project descriptions.

1. Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Grant for Conservation and Rehousing for the Museum’s Prehistoric Metal Objects.

2. IMLS Conservation Project Support funding for treatment and rehousing of 400-450 African ethnographic carved wood masks and figurines, ivory carvings and musical instruments, 2000-2001.

3. Getty Grant Program funding for a conservation assessment of the Museum's works of art on paper, paintings and gilt frames, 1999-2000.

4. Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) Grant for Rehousing of the Museum's Bark Cloth Collections
