IMLS Grant for Rehousing Bark Cloth

 

 

INSTITUTE OF MUSEUM AND LIBRARY SERVICES GRANT FOR CONSERVATION AND REHOUSING OF THE MUSEUM’S PREHISTORIC METAL OBJECTS

The Peabody Museum has been awarded a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services to conserve and rehouse approximately 1500 prehistoric metal objects from its extensive collections from Mesoamerica, Panama, and South America.

The Museum's metal collections include artifacts from the underwater excavations of the sacred cenote at Chichen Itza, figurines of gold, and tumbaga, medallions of sheet gold, various styles of bells, and objects of gold, bronze, and silver from Peru.
