| Featuring a selection of objects from the Peabody Museum’s
permanent collections, the exhibit illustrates the diversity of North
American cultures as seen through the objects produced by indigenous
peoples of the 19th century. A period of profound social change, the
exhibit considers historic interactions between natives and Europeans
in each culture area: Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, Plains, California/Plateau,
Northwest Coast, Arctic, Subarctic. The exhibit highlights also aspects
