The Moche offers a rare look at one of Peru's oldest civilizations through its most central of art forms, ceramics. Over one hundred objects, principally ceramics, from the Peabody Museum's permanent collections will take center stage along with artifacts of stone, wood, metal, and textiles and photographic panels of colorful murals and friezes. Understood principally through their ceramics, the exhibit examines the imagery used by this ancient people and how it conveys their everyday experience and cosmological beliefs, as well as their relationship to earlier cultures and legacy.
