Take a behind-the-scenes visit to a museum laboratory that helps archaeologists identify the animal bones found in their excavations. Researchers who study animal remains from ancient human-occupation sites (zooarchaeologists) demonstrate how this is done using skeletons of modern animals. If you have found a bone in your backyard, bring it with you and get it identified! A favorite archaeology event for children and for home-schoolers!

Here’s your official invitation to the Day of the Dead family celebration at the Peabody Museum! Make a calaca (skull) mask, paper marigolds, and other Día de los Muertos items. View the special altars and decorations, leave messages for your departed loved ones, and enjoy festive music. Decorate and take home a sugar skull and have some light snacks.
