RECENT ACQUISITIONS

In order to support its educational mandate, the Peabody Museum acquires objects, papers, photographs, and video and sound recordings relating to anthropology. Collections may be received through gift, purchase, bequest, exchange, and expedition.

Through generous donors, the Peabody Museum has made several recent additions to the collections. A selection of some of our recent acquisitions are displayed below (click on images for enlargements).

This painting and another by Charles Pickering of a Polynesian man were included in the 3rd Founder's Lecture, given on May 7 by Marshall Sahlins. Please also see the web site for that event, which includes a biography of Pickering.
