LOCATION Set up on the west side of the small structure 8-1, which appears to have been associated with the ceremonial causeway leading north to Group D.

CONDITION Intact and erect until February 1971. Then it was cracked into pieces by fire and the carved portion removed by some ignorant would-be merchant of pre-Columbian sculpture.

MATERIAL A hard limestone.

SHAPE Somewhat asymmetrically lapered, with a rounded top. Morley's photographs, the only ones known, were not taken from directly in front of the stela and so distort the shape,

CARVED AREAS Front only.

PHOTOCRAPH Morley, 1922.

DRAWING von Euw, based on Morley's photograph, partially rectified in order to reduce distortion.
