Researcher, Santander Program for Research and Conservation of Maya Sculpture, Copan Acropolis Tunnel Conservation Project
Laura Lacombe is an architectural conservator and anthropologist. Her Master of Science thesis focused on archaeological site conservation and created a conservation plan for Holly Tower at Hovenweep National Monument in Utah. Before studying at Penn, she spent three field seasons in Copan as an undergraduate archaeologist, and she is thrilled to return to Copan as a conservator, which will allow her to combine her knowledge of the site with her materials conservation skills to help protect some of Honduras’s most valuable cultural heritage. Laura will serve as project field director for the conservation plan of the acropolis tunnels, including making a 3D map of the system.
