Amazing Archaeology at Harvard

Hands-on Activities and Gallery Exploration

12:00-4:00 PM Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Peabody Museum (11 Divinity Avenue) and the Harvard Semitic Museum (6 Divinity Avenue). Activities are free with Museum admission.

Enjoy a day of archaeological exploration drawn from work at Harvard. Reserve a seat and don your 3-D glasses for an immersive tour of the pyramids and tombs of Giza. See how archaeologists produce 3-D scans of Maya monuments in the gallery or try archaeological illustration and sketch real Maya glyphs. Meet archaeologists and learn about their recent finds. Watch potters shape the large vessels known as amphoras, used in the ancient world for storage and transport. Explore artifacts from excavations at the oldest institution of higher learning in the U.S. View Egyptian mummy coffins. Experience the world-famous collections of North American, Maya, and ancient Near Eastern archaeology held by the Semitic and Peabody museums.

3-D Giza tour reservations available at the Peabody Museum admissions desk on the day of the event. Free event parking is available at the 52 Oxford Street Garage.
