The Peabody Museum has an extremely active research program and is not able to accommodate walk-ins or last minute requests. Do not make travel arrangements or adjust your personal schedule before confirming your appointment with the PM Research staff. All research visits are by appointment and the date/time you are requesting may not be available.
Archaeology and Ethnography requests:The Peabody is already heavily booked for summer 2017, we may not be able to accommodate on-site research visits until fall 2017. The Osteology Department is currently closed but will reopen July 1, 2017. We regret the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.
Requests & Protocols
The Peabody Museum collections and associated documentation are available for teaching, research, publication, exhibition, replication of indigenous techniques, and artistic endeavors. The nature and conditions of use must be consistent with the Museum's commitment to the care of its collections. Allow at least six weeks' advance notice to schedule appointments. Appraisal & Authentication
For legal, ethical, and best practice reasons, Peabody Museum staff and curators are unable to authenticate or appraise objects in person or via email. Please contact the regional branch of the Appraisers Association of America or the American Society of Appraisers directly. The Museum is in no way affiliated with these organizations.
